About/Thoughts:Inspired by a visual novel of the same name, this 2015 anime is one to remember. Following the Madoka Magica craze, this mahou shoujo anime also follows the pattern of a cute girls getting thrown into situations of absolute despair and conflict beyond their control.
Yuuki Yuuna, the main character, is a energetic and caring girl recruited by her senpai (Fuu) to enter the Hero's Club, a club where the members are charged with protecting the world from enemies called Vertex on the orders of their world's ruling god.
Despite obviously using Madoka Magica as inspiration for the general plot idea, this anime is actually pretty unique and even after watching and rewatching Madoka and it's copycats multiple times, I still cried during and at the end of this anime. The cast is very diverse as it consists of a pair of siblings, a handicap, and an aloof tsundere. It's a very touching story and although the end was bittersweet in the good kind of way, it still makes me a bit mad considering the cycle apparently continues indefinitely despite everything the girls went through. Yuuki Yuuna is a hidden gem, and I say hidden because it was basically pushed into the shadows because of bigger anime such as SAO2 that were released at the same time. I highly recommened this anime if you liked Madoka Magica and want another mahou shoujo anime with a strong plot.
