Artist Profile: Softly

Background:
Softly is a Hokkaido-stationed singer-songwriter duo of Mutsuki and Haruka; two 18-year-olds who met through Twitter and got together in real-life one day (through a mutual friend) and created the unit when they discovered they both shared dreams of writing and preforming their own songs. Mutsuki is on vocals, and is also in charge of lyric writing. Haruka is the guitarist and composes the music to match Mutsuki's lyrics. She also occasionally sings the backing vocals in the chorus. The duo's debut single sold out in their local Tower Records store and now most of their discography is available to the US through iTunes.

Ringo's Thoughts:
So I first discovered these girls when I was bored and scrolling through the US iTunes store looking for any hidden Jpop gems. Mutsuki's soft yet sturdy voice along with Haruka's chill playing style won me over instantly and I ended up buying all their available music that day. Softly has been gaining attention as a talented and potential filled 'new-gen' duo and I look forward to their future works.
